About Us
The Betway Group, which is headquartered in Malta with offices in Cape Town, Guernsey, Stockholm and London, was founded in 2006. The company uses industry-leading technology from Microgaming to provide players with world-class entertainment and a first-rate gaming experience.
The group incorporates a number of different brands, namely Betway and Gnuf.
Betway, the group's flagship site, was launched in 2006 and offers in-play sports betting, virtual casino, slots and poker. In 2012, Betway launched mobile apps, allowing players the opportunity to take advantage of over 12,000 in-play sports betting markets through their smartphones. Customer support is offered in 17 languages and is available online, by email or by telephone, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Gnuf, an online casino and poker provider, was founded in 2006 and is licensed in Malta. The brand's three websites, Gnuf.com offers players real money gaming experiences across casino and poker and bingo, as well as allowing demo play, and Gnuf.net offers free play fun for players wanting no risk.
In addition to its Maltese licences, The Betway Group holds licences in Spain, Italy and Denmark, and follows the legal and tax requirements of those jurisdictions.

Richard AkittCEO
Richard qualified as a Chartered Accountant in Durban, South Africa in 1984, and then worked with KPMG as a manager in their small business division before joining Protech Overseas, an IT procurement and consultancy as finance director. In 1992, he went on to co-found WebTech Software, a financial services software development company, where he remains a director. In 2006, Richard co-founded CabCard Services, a company that provides debit and credit card processing facilities for taxis and driving schools in the UK and Ireland. Richard has held a number of positions as a director of various online gaming companies before becoming chief executive of the Betway Group.
Anthony CassarChief Financial Officer
Anthony Cassar is a qualified accountant and a member of the Malta Institute of Accountants. He has worked in the gaming industry for six years, and has extensive experience in the licencing of regulated markets. After qualifying as an accountant, Anthony worked for a firm of Certified Public Accountants and Auditors where he was responsible for managing audits within a range of industries, including real estate, insurance and hotels amongst others. Prior to joining The Betway Group Anthony was on the senior management teams of three healthcare-related manufacturing plants in Malta, focusing on finance, treasury management and the evaluation of investment projects for plants in Malta, France and Italy.
Jacques VisserDirector
Jacques Visser is Director of The Betway Group's Gnuf brand, having worked in the gaming industry for several years. A Dutch national, Jacques' experience is in all aspects of the gaming industry, including marketing and sales, and he has responsibility for policy setting and operational issues for the brand's sportsbook, casino and poker operations.
Bob DutnallExecutive Director
After originally qualifying as an accountant, Bob worked with both consumer and industrial companies, holding senior financial and general management roles with SIEBE/Invensys, GEI and Unigate. Of particular note was the successful restructuring and sale of Sheffield's oldest specialty steel maker Sanderson Kayser. From 2002, he co-managed the buyout of CompAir, a global engineering firm, from its FTSE 100 parent, Invensys, with backing from Alchemy, the leading turn-round specialist. Bob joined Betway in 2012 from leading online sports betting company, Sportingbet, where he was managing director of its European operation. He worked with Sportingbet from 2005, and was responsible for restructuring and moving its European operations to Guernsey.

Paul BurtonHead of Payments, Risk and Processing
After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in South Africa in 1997, Paul consulted with a number of UK companies on contract. In 2001, he joined a fledgling payment solutions company called Proc-Cyber Services, becoming managing director in 2003. The firm became part of the Datacash Group Plc., and Paul became Finance Director stepping up to become the Managing Director of the firm after it was bought by MasterCard in 2010 for £333 million. After an association with the Betway Group for a number of years, Paul was appointed head of payments, risk and processing.
Richard HassonHead of Corporate and Strategic Development
Richard is a Chartered Accountant who worked at KPMG in South Africa and the United States before joining the investment banking division of Goldman Sachs in London, where he covered the real estate and leisure sectors. He gained vast experience in public and private M&A and capital raisings, including working on the IPO of Betfair. After leaving Goldman Sachs Richard worked as CFO at an early-stage financial services company , where he helped expand the business and raise capital. He joined The Betway Group in 2012.
Paul McManusHead of Mobile
Paul joined The Betway Group in 2011 and has been responsible for driving strategy for all mobile initiatives by developing a variety of Native and HTML5 mobile products. Betway has Mobile Sportsbook and Mobile Casino products which are available on Android and iOS. Before working at Betway, Paul worked at the US company IGT in its mobile division helping to grow UK B2B product Kerching. He has over nine years' experience in the digital space and is regular speaker at leading industry events.

Maggie joined The Betway Group in 2012 having previously been Group Head of Human Resources at PayPoint, the leading retail payments and services network. Maggie worked at PayPoint from its foundation in 1999 and was a key part of the management team. She brings vast experience in human resources to the group and is a commercial business partner.

Trinity Mirror Group
In August 2012, The Betway Group announced a partnership with Trinity Mirror Group, the publisher of national and regional newspapers in the UK, to sponsor its fantasy football game in a three year deal, as part of a wider multi-million pound marketing campaign.
Datacash
The Betway Group has worked closely with Datacash since 2006. Datacash is the leading multi-channel global payment processing services provider, managing processes, fraud prevention and risk to merchants and banks. With Datacash processing up to a billion transactions each year, and preventing over £1 million of fraud each day, they are a trusted partner of The Betway Group and players can rest safe in the knowledge that their deposits and withdrawals are safe.
The Hippodrome Casino
In October 2012 The Betway Group announced that it was working exclusively with Microgaming to power the online casino (www.hippodromecasino.com) for the iconic Hippodrome Casino, one of London's most famous entertainment venues. Chosen for its market leading operational capability in the form of loyalty programmes, VIP support, payment processing and customer retention programmes, will manage the online casino's operation and introduce a suite of games and mobile gaming applications.
Toga Sports and Football Mitoo
In October 2012, Betway the Group's flagship brand, announced an exciting partnership with Toga Sports, the leading provider of football kits to amateur teams, and Football Mitoo, the leading amateur football league website, as part of a campaign to promote amateur 5-aside and 11-aside football in the UK. The 'Betway Grassroots' website, www.GrassrootsFC.com, provides easy and accessible league management database as well as offering an exciting new way for amateur football teams to get brand new kits.
